Accessory breasts
About 1 in every 100 women has an island of extra breast tissue. This is usually located in the armpit but can be below the breast.
It usually presents as either a cosmetic problem or as an uncomfortable swelling during breast feeding.
Surgery involves removing the island of breast tissue and tidying up the fold of excess skin that is usually also present. A combination of liposuction and surgery is usually the best way of treating this condition.
